Lung Cancer: Prognosis

The prognosis of lung cancer or what the
chance they’re going to be cured or not is really dependent on whether what the
stage of the cancer is. I’m sure you’ve heard that if you find it early
your survival chances are better and that’s true in lung cancer. We like to
find the cancer earlier on a stage one cancer before it spread anywhere and
then when we do an operation the survival rate is actually very good. It’s
in the neighborhood of eighty-five ninety percent chance that you would be
cured of that cancer. Unfortunately most of the time when people find a lung
cancer, it’s already widely spread throughout their body and there’s not a
lot to do for that. Hopefully with CT screening of the lung we can find
cancers in an earlier stage and therefore have a better cure rate.
