Hi I’m Russ Ouellette from Pipes and Cigars .com and today I’d like to talk to you about the RO series Acadian blends. In October of 2015, I had the pleasure to spend some time with Mark Ryan at the La Poche Perique factory in St. James Parish. After we toured and had a chance to sit down and talk, I tossed out an idea that I had. I asked mark if he had ever tried processing Virginia like Perique. He said that he had talked to somebody about it and they said it wouldn’t work because with tobacco would break down and would be useless. I suggested that maybe with less pressure and a little less time in might turn out ok. Before i even had a chance to discuss it further, Mark got on the phone, called a supplier in Canada and had 800 pounds of Canadian bright organically grown Virginia sent down to St. James. The tobacco was processed exactly the same way that Perique is. As a pleasant surprise, we found out after five months, that the Virginia had completely transformed. When i first got the chance to try the tobacco that we now call Acadian Gold, I was amazed by the difference from regular bright Virginia. It picked up a new mommy note that also had a maltyness to it, unlike anything else I have ever tried. So we decided to put together three blends using this new type of tobacco. So now we have aAcadian Gold, Acadian Vapor and Acadian English, so that there’s something there for just about everybody. Straight Acadian Gold is nothing but that processed Virginia. Acadian Vapor includes some Perique to add a little bit more liveliness to the blend. And Acadian English uses Latakia and a bit of black cavendish to give it a smoky intrigue. And that’s a little bit about theRO Series Acadian blends, I’m Russ Ouellette from PipesandCigars .com, thanks for watching.
